Tuesday evening I was in a Charlotte hotel reading the USA Today.  In the Life section there was a snippet that mentioned Maxim magazine was coming out with their annual 100 Hottest Women edition.

I am not a reader of Maxim but I was thinking that the list simply could not be accurate because as far as I know, my wife of over 20 years is not included.  Therefore, their data is flawed at best.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I would like to say a few words about the mother of my child.  My wife is extraordinarily beautiful but that is partly because of how beautiful she is on the inside.  The following are just a few of the things I admire about this incredible woman and leader.

  1. I completely trust her.
  2. She treats me with respect.
  3. Our house is impeccably cared for.  If you didn’t know better you would think our home is always for sale.
  4. She is a great cook.
  5. She rises early and ensures all our needs are met as we prepare for the day.
  6. She does side work to help the family financially.
  7. She takes care of herself physically.
  8. She is a great money manager and stewards our resources well.
  9. She is active in our daughter’s school.
  10. She serves the poor, specifically a women’s shelter near our home.
  11. She cares about her appearance but doesn’t obsess over it.
  12. She leads a teenage girls small group in our church.
  13. She serves alongside me in our church’s hospitality ministry.
  14. People think more highly of me because she is by my side.
  15. She is selective with her speech.
  16. She is kind to others.
  17. She is not lazy.
  18. She is brilliant in leading, training, and advising my daughter.
  19. She is stately and charming.
  20. She fears the Lord and has a specific time with Him each day.

I’m not going to buy or read the Maxim list.  No desire or need to.  I’m sure they are all pretty women that are listed.  However, my wife exceeds them all.

Last year, I wrote a post called 10 Leadership Skills Of Stay At Home Moms because my wife is one.  I think it is timely to re-visit that list.

  1. They are the greatest servants I know.
  2. They sacrifice personal desires and public recognition for the success of others.
  3. They have superior organizational skills.
  4. They give their husbands confidence to perform well throughout the day.
  5. They productively utilize marginal time.
  6. They manage the family’s financial resources and stretch a dollar.
  7. They create a warm environment to come home to.  For more on that subject, click here.
  8. They rise early and make sure all of their family’s needs are met.
  9. They make investments in their children that last generations.
  10. They are a privilege to provide for.

Proverbs 18:22 says “He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord“.  I couldn’t agree more.

Happy Mother’s Day to my wife and all mothers!!
