In an effort to add maximum value to pastors and church leaders, INJOY Stewardship Solutions has dispatched me to attend the Willow Creek Global Leadership Summit.  During the next two days, I will be bringing some of the top leadership lessons from the incredible faculty the WCA has assembled.

The afternoon session’s first speaker was the best-selling author Susan Cain who spoke on Quiet: Challenging The Extrovert Ideal.  The following are 12 leadership quotes and lessons from her session.

  1. One-half to one-third of the population is introverted.
  2. There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all environment.
  3. Individuals produce more ideas and better ideas than group brainstorming sessions.
  4. Stop the madness for constant group work.  Do a hybrid.
  5. In a group, we often wind up following the most assertive person in the group.
  6. Forget networking.  Focus on service.
  7. We need to restore quite to our culture.
  8. We need to rethink what we mean when we call someone a natural leader.
  9. Many introverts get excited about a few things in their life and they go deep in that area.
  10. Groom an “unlikely” leader, someone who is not a natural leader.
  11. Find your complement.  Find someone who’s good at what you’re not.
  12. Find a role model.  We all need role models.
