Each week I provide you tools which will make you a better Christian leader.  Therefore, allow me to introduce you to a good friend of mine, Justin Trapp.  He has an unbelievable heart for pastors and is doing something to help those who are struggling in the area of resources.

Below you will read a sobering story about a recent encounter he had with a former pastor who got rid of his Bibles.  This story will break your heart.

I was a few weeks away from launching a new company (Ministry Pass) when I had a sobering reminder of whats at stake for myself and the pastors I serve.

It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon. My wife and I were almost home when she saw a garage sale sign. She loves re-purposing furniture so we followed the signs. When we started looking at everything I noticed some seminary books for sale. I asked the man if he went to Bible school and he said yes.

Come to find out, he attended the same college as me, Southwestern Assemblies of God University. He had worked in ministry for 8 years as a children’s pastor up north. I asked him if he went to a church in the area and he said, “No, I have not been to any church in several years.

He told me about how he was overworked and under compensated. It took a toll on him, his family and marriage. As this former pastor is telling me of his hurt from ministry and getting a divorce I notice something that made my heart grieve.

He was selling his Bibles

Friends, when a pastor quits like this, it is not just a minister changing his vocation. It has a ripple impact through generations.

This man has remarried and now has a large blended family. Several of their children are in high school and chances are they haven’t been to church in years either. Their perspective probably isn’t any healthier than his. When they marry and have children in the next several years, will they change their course?

I went home and wept. I grieved and prayed for Kyle and his family. But my purpose had been ignited even more from this.

It has been several weeks since and we just launched Ministry Pass. A company I cofounded to help church leaders be more efficient and effective by providing done-for-you resources.

Our prayer is that our resources will help you get time back every week so you can be a better leader, father, husband, wife and Christ follower.

With Ministry Pass you have unlimited access to hundreds of sermon series, event and announcement bundles for adults, students and kids.
